My client is a distributor for Caterpillar vehicles in nine countries over three continents across the globe are now seeking a Training Development Supervisor to join their team

You will be reporting to the Service Training Manager and your duties will be to identify Service training needs in the Business units and ensure the successful development and effective deployment of suitable curricula (and training scenarios) to address the requirements.

To supervise and coordinate the CoE training team, ensuring that CoE’s (Centre of Excellence) training delivery capability is promoted, developed and deployed to the BU’s (Business Unit’s) in alignment with their training needs.

Main tasks include:
• Ensure all BU’s Servicemen have a defined ILP (Individual Learning Plan)
• Ensure effective progress is made in completing the ILP’s
• Responsible for the effective delivery of training curricula
• Production of status and progress reports deliverable to the Service Training Manager and BU Service Operations Manager.
• Responsible for maintaining training delivery excellence (e.g. by monitoring the BU Instructor’s delivery of ILT – Instructor Lead Training)
• Focal point for CoE training related matters.
• Daily management of the CoE training team.
• Provide Integral support to the Service Training Manager in developing the Centre of Excellence (CoE) ethos.
• Assist in developing the Service training Instructors in the BU’s and CoE
• Routine interaction with Caterpillar Training team (primarily Malaga, but also Peoria).
• Routine interaction with Caterpillar Technical Reps.

Therefore your main duties & responsibilities will include the following:-

Training Development.
• Ensure deployment of Caterpillar Training Curricula in alignment Training Needs Analysis – modifying the curricula whenever required
• Develop new Curricula where suitable training programs are not available from Caterpillar (or other suppliers)
• Ensure accurate and relevant training curricula is delivered by the BU and CoE training departments
• Continual assessment and development of CoE and BU instructors maintaining the CIAP level of excellence in the delivery of training.
• Ensure that BU’s training requirements from CoE are delivered, utilizing CoE ethos.
• Point of contact for Training excellence for the BU’s
• Monitor Curriculum programmes and provide guidance and feedback to the BU’s training department.
• Through collective TNA (Training Needs Analysis) process identify BU training needs and develop training curriculum accordingly.
• Overall responsibility for DPC (Dealer Performance Centre) in coordinating service training and development programmes.
• Utilize DPC to produce system generated progress reports for the Service Training Manager and the BU’s.
• Ensure accurate filtering of training syllabus content to suit the BU’s needs.
• Through liaison with CAT and the BU ensure that required ILT courses are programmed into the BU training syllabus, i.e. PM (Preventative Maintenance) after new product introduction.
• Provide assistance to the Service Training Manager.
• Use Caterpillar Systems (such as SIS, TMI, SIMS)
• Uphold the centre of Excellence ethos in performance of tasks.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility:
• Daily Management of the CoE Training team, four personnel (possibly increasing)

Financial Authority:
• Expenses as budgeted by the Service Training Manager

Tools and Technologies being used in the role: Excel/Caterpillar/Mechanical/Electrical
• DPC, SIS, SIMSi, TMI, ManPro and HITS
• Microsoft software systems

Person Specification

Experience & Background:
Essential:
• Comprehensive Knowledge of Training delivery Methodologies
• Development and deployment of Training curricula (preferably in a Cat Dealership or similar field)
• Project Management Experience

Desirable:
• Experience of working with Caterpillar or other heavy equipment manufacturer
• Hands on experience as a technical trainer

Skills & Educational Qualifications:
Essential:
• Excellent communication and written skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent presentation skills
• Excellent command of the English language
• Ability to interact and communicate at all levels, from Senior management to shop floor personnel
• Have the appearance and bearing to positively represent my client to Caterpillar and external organizations
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to promote best practice to a diverse team
• Strong time management skills (ability to prioritise and set effective timelines)
• Effective report writing
• Excellent IT skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Desirable:
• Comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar Training and development systems and programs (e.g. DPC, STMG, TCDP)

The ideal individual for this role would be a DSAT Technical Instructor who has a wealth of vehicle engineering knowledge and background who has worked in one of the Training Regiments within the for example RE or REME from the Army or similar from the Navy or RAF.

In return they are offering a good basic package, as well as possible performance based bonus scheme which could be up to 10% of the basic salary, as well as up to 30% travel across the globe at sister sites to make sure that the training delivered on the ground matches what is required and that all training sites offer the same type of training to their clients.
