Responsible for the management of building services for a combined office and high technology manufacturing facility, you will ensure that the organisation has cost effective and suitable working environment for its employees and their activities.
Main Duties
You will provide services for operational departments as well as central services, including practical and hands-on tasks. Tasks may include:
Preparing documents to put out tenders for contractors;
Project management and supervising and coordinating work of contractors;
Investigating availability and suitability of options for existing and new premises;
Calculating and comparing costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money;
Planning for future development in line with strategic business objectives;
Managing and leading change to ensure minimum disruption to core activities;
Directing and planning essential central services such as security, maintenance, mail, archiving, cleaning, waste disposal and recycling;
Ensuring the building meets health and safety and environmental requirements;
Planning best space allocation and utilisation and re-organising current premises;
Checking that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and following up on any deficiencies;
Using performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement;
Responding appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise.
Responsibilities.
You will be involved in both strategic planning and day-to-day operations, working in conjunction with departments across the organisation. Duties will focus on using best business practice to improve efficiency by reducing operating costs while increasing productivity including supervision of the following:
Utilities
Cooling and gas systems serving production equipment
Grounds maintenance;
Cleaning;
Security;
Space management;
Related procurement and contract management;
Level of Qualification.
Minimum qualification: NVQ or City & Guilds in Building Services / Plant.
Desirable qualification: Electrical installation, Gas Safe, Member of BIFM.
Skills: Air Conditioning & Plant, Plumbing, Hazardous Chemicals, Building Controls.
Experience / Other Qualities.
A willingness to undertake flexible working and out of hours / on-call duties.
Ability to supervise an in-house facilities team;

Member of the British institute of facilities management
Essentials
NVQ or City and guild in Building Services Plant
Strong knowledge in: Air conditioning plant, Supervision, Plumbing, Hazardous Chemicals and building controls.
