System Design Engineer–IP Voice Networks (178jc) vacancy in Saudi Arabia ()

My client, who is a major telecoms provider, is now seeking a System Design Engineer–IP Voice Networks for their operations in Saudi Arabia, you will be reporting to the System Design Authority (SDA)

Primary Objectives & Functions:
• To produce end to end IP Telephony (IPT) solutions, cost-effective and low-risk designs compliant with customers’ requirements, through-life design, capable of onward implementation and support by the Company.
• To be the Company’s technical subject matter expert in IPT.
• Capable of onward implementation and support of IPT solutions in accordance with established contractual obligations and Company procedures (Design Review, Configuration Control and Documentation).
• To work closely with other business functions as part of project delivery (New Business, Project or Managed Services).
• To work confidently with other SDE’s including IP/MPLS, IPT engineers to design next generation networks.
• To design networks to industry standards and best practices.
• To manage Installation Engineers as appropriate in support of project objectives.

Summary of Duties And Responsibilities
• Design end to end IPT Network based on customer requirements.
• Write Network design requirement documents (NDR) for the IPT Network.
• Technical Lead of all IPT related projects.
• To produce and review method statements, proposals, risk assessments as appropriate.
• Provide ILS (Integrated Logistics Support) input/data as appropriate.
• Ensure all design documentation is professional and complete for Test Acceptance and Technical Transfer.
• Provide Engineering support for new and existing designs.
• Define and review subcontractor proposals for design, installation, testing commissioning and acceptance testing.
• Supervise sub-contractor works as appropriate.
• Maintain position as IPT subject matter expert for the Company.
Contact with Others (Internal/External/Meetings):
• The SDE will interface principally with the SDA but will also have to deal directly with other Company staff (proposals, project, finance, commercial) and the customers (MOD and SANG). The SDE will also be expected to support Commercial meetings with suppliers/subcontractors.
Judgement/Decision Making Authority (Specific Responsibilities):
Commensurate with the above duties and responsibilities as delegated. Be the technical Lead on all IPT projects.

Recruitment Specification (Knowledge & Experience):
Essential
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline plus Cisco CCNP Voice or equivalent.
• Minimum of Five year experience in Designing IPT Networks
• Proven track record in similar role, working to tight timescales on large multi-element projects, and be able to demonstrate:
a. The use of top down design principles for large IP voice network design.
b. An understanding of lifecycle management and modular designs.
c. Experience of large distributed IP voice and switch networks design.
d. Experience in design of large IP addressing and subnetting schemes.
e. In depth knowledge of primary routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, IGRP, EIGRP, BGP etc).
f. Experience in legacy voice to IP voice network design, migration and Integration.
g. Experience in designing Quality of Service (QoS) tools for voice and other applications, Multicast Routing and QoS
h. Extensive experience in Layer 2 & Layer 3 technologies
i. Design, architect and upgrade large complex providers
• Large scale custom profiling design and implementation
• Good standard of written and spoken English
• Self-initiative with leadership qualities

Desirable
• CCIE Voice LAB qualified is highly desirable
• Business experience in the Defence Sector.
• Sound understanding of TDM network principles.
• Experience in major civil or military projects.
• Experience of living or working in the Middle East
As this role is based in Saudi Arabia, candidates must meet all of the minimum qualifications as they are not bound by UK or EU Laws, also individuals over the age of 50 will also not be considered for any of these roles.
