This client, The Department of Public Transportation is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill the post of Assistant Director, Maintenance and Technical Services.

Working under the direction of the Director, the Assistant Director, Maintenance and Technical Services is responsible for the overall development, management and maintenance of the vehicle fleet. This will include maintaining the reliability and safety of each vehicle, ensuring all technical staff have received any necessary training and that they are performing completely, designing and implementing efficient and audit worthy processes and investigating, analysing, reporting and making recommendations on fleet and technical staff performance, ensuring the effective use of appropriate technology.

A good general knowledge of the Public Transport Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, Human Rights Act, and experience with Collective Bargaining agreements, Conditions of Employment and Code of Conduct, Financial Instructions and the Recruitment Code of Bermuda would be an asset, however training will be given for specific needs to Bermuda, however the individual will still need to have significant knowledge in their home countries as the acts tend to be very similar.

The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in automotive Engineering, Transport Technology or relevant subject matter with professional membership with the Society of Automotive Engineers or equivalent professional body. A minimum of five (5) years experience in fleet management is required. The successful candidate will be considered the Automotive Technical Officer of the Department and should be available as the job demands and have a bus operator’s license and recovery vehicle license.

This is an excellent role for someone who wishes to move to a warmer clime and can make a serious contribution to the public transport system in the islands.
