The contract award date if very soon, and would be looking for individual to commit in joining the contract early February 2014, with three rounds of interviews, and the final interview being held in Doha.
Job Description
Mission
This role is primarily responsible for administering the PROJECT Backup & Restore System(s) and has secondary responsibility of administering the PROJECT Database(s), in the absence of that Administrator.
• PROJECT Backup & Restore (B&R) Administration Mission
• A PROJECT B&R Sys Admin is responsible for administering the backup and restore of PROJECT Computer
• System Application & information, thus maintaining System Config & Operational capability.
• A PROJECT B&R Sys Admin is responsible for resolving PROJECT System issues reported by PROJECT Level 2 Infra IT Administrators.
• A PROJECT B&R Sys Admin performs the tasks and duties of a PROJECT Infra IT Administrator (Level2) in the absence of that Level 2 Administrator
• PROJECT Database Administration Mission
• A PROJECT DBA Sys Admin is responsible for administering PROJECT Computer System Databases and the integrity of information contained therein, thus maintaining System Configuration and Operational capability.
• A PROJECT DBA Sys Admin will, together with the PROJECT Win Sys Administrator (Level3) and the PROJECT Backup & Restore Sys Admin (Level3) to restore and resynchronise PROJECT information in the event of system failure, or information loss.
• This work is to be carried out in accordance with PROJECT Con Ops, standards and project
• Requirement
• A PROJECT DBA Sys Admin is responsible for change management procedures, relating to PROJECT Databases
• A PROJECT DBA Sys Admin performs the task sand duties of PROJECT Infra IT Administrators (Level2) in the absence of that Level 2 Administrator
• Other responsibilities include being part of 24x7 on-call rotation.
Main Tasks and Duty of Jobholder
The activities led by PROJECT Backup & Restore Sys Admin after suitable training managed by CUSTOMER, are:
• Maintain the backup & restore plan in accordance with operational requirement, checking logs
• Configuring backups in accordance with the backup plan
• Together with the PROJECT Administrator Cell Manager (Level3), manage the scheduling PROJECT
System Application and Information backup
• Together with the Windows System Administrators, identifying and agreeing PROJECT System Application and information to be backed up
• Together with the Windows System Administrators, ensure PROJECT servers and software are backed up and restored
• Together with the PROJECT Administrator Cell Manager (Level3), manage the scheduling, content and storage of PROJECT System Application and Information archive
• Administer the PROJECT System Application and Information backup, restore and archive
• Informing the PROJECT Administrator Cell Manager (Level3) of changes to the backup & restore plan and of changes to the backup, restore and archive configuration
• Analysing System logs, identifying and resolving issues with computer systems
• Administering back up and restore operating system updates, patches, and configuration.
• Continuous improvement of backup, restore and archiving Systems performance
• Documenting the backup, archive and restore system configuration
• Ensure faulty backup, restore and archive equipment is replaced
• Liaising with third party to ensure system repair where necessary
• Ensuring third party maintenance repair is of the correct standard
• Answering PROJECT System technical queries
• Providing on-the-job B&R training
Main Tasks and Duty of Jobholder
The activities led by PROJECT DBA Admin after suitable training managed by CUSTOMER, are:-
• Managing and supporting day to day tasks (Oracle and Posgre SQL PROJECT Database monitoring and maintenance, checking log file, backup integrity)
• Managing and supporting PROJECT software packages based on Oracle tools
• Analysing System logs ,identifying resolving and reporting where resolution cannot be achieved, issues with PROJECT Computer Systems Databases
• Administering database updates, patches, and configuration change
• Installing and configuring new PROJECT Systems Database hardware and software
• Fault finding reported problems
• Tuning PROJECT System Database performance
• Ensuring that the database network and infrastructure is operational
• Develop PROJECT Systems Database forms, reports, packages, alerts, triggers, workflow, and queries within guidelines for delivery dates and quality
• Maintaining PROJECT Systems Database Configuration, availability, performance and quality of service documentation
• Answering PROJECT Systems Database technical queries
• Providing on-the-job DBA training
Pre-requisites
Education:
• Advanced reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through high school diploma or equivalent.
• Qualified technician IT system administration (computers, network and databases).
Certification:
• For B&R Administration-Â-Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
• For B&R Administration-ÂHP Storage and Datacentre Certification
Technical Experience/expertise: For B&R Administration
• 6+ years experience with providing support, implementing and developing IT Backup & Restore Solution on existing infrastructure (Microsoft Server2003, 2008, Vista and 7 and UNIX/LINUX (RedHat))
• Strong skills in backup, archive and restore software and hardware (Symantec NetBackup or Data Protector, or SAN or similar)
• Experience in sys admin (SW installation, HP sys supervision & fault localization, user profile management, database management (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MSSQL).
For DBA Administration, an appreciation of DBA Administration;
• 1+ years experience with providing support, implementing and developing IT database (Oracle, MSSQL and PostgreSQL) on existing infrastructure (Microsoft Server2003, 2008, Vista and 7 and UNIX/LINUX (RedHat)).
• 1+ years experience with IT systems technology, enterprise class environments, high-availability, hardware/software installation and Microsoft Server 2003, 2008 configurations and administration, as well as UNIX/LINUX (RedHat) environments.
• Strong skills in Oracle Developer, Oracle Stored objects, DB procedures, packages, functions, triggers, Oracle web services, Application APIs and AOL
• Strong Windows/Linux troubleshooting skills, he/she needs to have experience with different Windows and UNIX/LINUX tools.
• Good knowledge of Web Server IIS, Apache, Firewall, IP network environment, TCP/IP, addressing, layout, routing
• Experience in system administration (SW installation, HP system supervision and fault localization, user profile management, backup/restore operations)
• Experience with Database design (RDBMS), ER Diagrams, UML and object oriented design
• Proficient scripting skills in SQL, Powershell, PHP, Java,.NET,andShell
• Knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies
• Knowledge of HP/Oracle/Cisco Enterprise level hardware infrastructure.
For both
• Trouble shooting skills of real time production environment along with deployment
And support of newer systems
• Perform daily system monitoring and gather data/metrics for performance and data reporting trending.

• To be able to get Qatari resident visa
• To be able to get EU country defence clearance (e.g.; EU Confidential)

As stated this role is a permanent role in Qatar and not in rotation (30 days holydays per year).
Depending on the level of responsibilities, the salary will be between 4500 and 6000 euros. This salary does not include the house or apartment, the car, the laptop, the trip to Europe (twice a year), insurance (life and medical) and other expenses.
