Arabic Interpreters x 48 (034jc) vacancy in Cambridgeshire ()

My client is a specialist language interpreter company who are currently bidding on a MoD contract to supply Arabic speakers for an initial 6 month contract.

You will be reporting to the Ops Manager and you will be providing support to UK military instructors and staff training to Libyan troops. In particular, exercise and training activities, administrative and logistic services. Located at Bassingbourn Training Camp, there may also be a requirement to support exercises away from the camp.

Interpreters are required to provide close support to UK Military instructors and other staff through interpreting verbal and occasionally written commands and instructions to Libyan Army personnel. Notably; from English (UK) to Arabic (Libyan dialect) and visa versus.

Specifically:
• Interpret at NATO Standard Language Proficiency Level 2 (Functional) or above, across all Arabic (Libyan) language disciplines: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
• Interpret in English to NATO Standard Language Proficiency Level 2 (Functional) or above, across all English language disciplines: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
• Attendance at customer – led meetings and/or Operations Manager briefings.

Skills Required – Essential
• Interpreting ability in the target language as detailed (NATO Standard Language Proficiency Level 2) (Functional), as a minimum.
• Interpreting ability in English as detailed (NATO Standard Language Proficiency Level 2) (Functional), as a minimum.
• Flexible approach to work.
• Professional attitude and appearance.
• Maintenance of confidentiality and discretion in the workplace.
Skills Required – Desirable
• Experience of working in a military environment.
• Understanding of the UK military (organisation).
• Fit to undertake work in varied environments, e.g. military training activities.
