My clients, who live on an estate in Somerset, seek a couple with previous similar experience to undertake house management for their young family household. One half of the couple will be the House Manager and the other will be Head Housekeeper.

Requirement – both roles

• As this is a family household, it is essential that the successful applicants have experience of and affection for working with children.
• It is also essential that they have experience of working within an executive family home, are able to offer the highest level of discrete, personal service and understand the constraints that come with this environment.
• They must be reliable, adaptable and flexible, have excellent planning and organising skills, have a hands-on approach to all tasks asked of them and have the ability to nurture good working relationships with the owners and personnel at the Estate.
• Due to the daily requirements the applicants must be physically fit and both hold driving licences.

House Manager

This is a hands-on role and will also involve overseeing tradesmen at the Estate.

House Manager - Environment

The House Manager will be required to fulfil the duties outlined below for this young family household at their Estate in Somerset. He or she will work directly with the owners to plan and fulfil the duties (as listed below) jointly agreeing the service standards required at the Estate with the owners.

The working hours are 7am to 5pm (Monday to Friday); however, flexibility will be required. Regular overnight stays will be required at the Estate and are an essential part of this role.

House Manager - Duties
• Meeting and greeting guests;
• Packing and unpacking;
• Wardrobe care;
• General care of all glassware, china and silver;
• General household maintenance:
o Sourcing and contracting tradesmen as required;
• Driving;
• Maintaining the family vehicles;
o Valet;
o Valet parking;
o MOT/Service/Insurance Etc;
• Security;
• Assisting at dinner parties:
o General butler duties (serving and waiting at the dinner table);
o Liaising with the chef
• Running general errands;
• Dog walking.
A full and detailed description will agreed with the successful applicant
Head Housekeeper

This is a hands-on role but will also involve managing a small team of household staff.

Head Housekeeper - Environment

The Head Housekeeper will be required to oversee the running of this young family household at their Estate in Somerset. He or she will work directly with the owners to plan and allocate the duties (as listed below) jointly agreeing the service standards required at the Estate with the owners and will manage the daily duties of the housekeeping staff.

The working hours are 7am to 5pm (Monday to Friday); however, flexibility will be required. Regular overnight stays will be required at the Estate and are an essential part of this role.
Head Housekeeper - Duties
• Manage the housekeeping staff ensuring the agreed service standards are met.
• General household responsibilities;
• Personal Assistance:
o Organising social events;
o Household expenses;
o Message taking;
• Childcare:
o Schools runs;
o Homework assistance;
• Family cooking (mainly for the children);
• Laundry;
• Wardrobe management;
• Shopping (grocery);
• Flower arrangements;
• Guest management:
o Oversee guest rooms;
o Ensure special requests are captured (dietary requirements, allergies etc).
A full and detailed description will agreed with the successful applicant.

Pay and Conditions

These are full-time permanent employed positions. The successful applicants must be able to take up their roles as soon as possible, subject to the checks below.

In consideration for their services the successful applicants can expect a competitive remuneration package and accommodation within close proximity to the Estate.

NOTE: both successful applicants will be required to provide a minimum of 10 years’ previous employment references and will be required to complete successfully CRB checks.
