Workshop and Fleet General Manager (095jc) vacancy in Rochester, Kent ()

My client is a privately owned family transport company employing 450 people and operating 240 vehicles, 500 trailers plus other mechanical equipment are now seeking to recruit a Workshop and Fleet General Manager.

You will be reporting to the Managing Director who is seeking retirement and this role will assume some of his responsibilities in the future, and therefore you will be based in their company head offices in Rochester in Kent.

Therefore your duties will include:
• Managing company workshops at Strood, Burton upon Trent and Manchester each workshop has a workshop manager covering every aspect of vehicle and trailer maintenance
• Managing vehicle and trailers from post-acquisition to commissioning
• Managing company tyre contract
• Managing fuel purchasing policy
• Managing vehicle from decommissioning to disposal
• Monitoring vehicle costs and looking into overspends
• MPG
• Maintaining standards
• Must be good team player

The ideal candidate would possibly be a SNCO, WO or LE Officer, who has experience in managing multi site vehicle workshop operations and who is able to look over the whole operation and implement new policies and procedures to make the system more efficient and at the same time deal with the 3 workshop managers in a way that does not alienate them.

Therefore this role would probably suit someone from either RE or REME background.

Your main base of operations will be in the Head Office and you will need to live within a reasonable distance from Rochester, however you will be expected to go to the other 2 locations and therefore you will be spending about 20% of your time in travel.
