My client is a niche supplier of GIS solutions for commercial and defence companies are now seeking two additional individuals to join this expanding and dynamic company, one as a junior consultant and the second as a consultant.

Purpose:
The Technical Services Team provides GIS technical support in the Defence and Security domain both within the UK and overseas. This post is for an integral member of that team who has proven technical skills, predominately using SharePoint technology. This role is an ideal opportunity for an intelligent and ambitious consultant, with an emerging track record with UK Defence or related Government projects, who are seeking a growing environment in which they can directly contribute the successful development of the company and realise their potential. The successful candidate would join a small team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable professionals, working in a busy but relaxed environment that welcomes and rewards initiative and self-confidence.

Reporting to: Head of Technical Services

Skills and Knowledge
My client is an Esri Partner and the majority of their technical activities involve the deployment and customisation of the latest Esri technology within customer environments. They have an increasing need to support wider IM/IX functions, and knowledge of SharePoint is a key skill in which they wish to develop their capability. The following technical skills are considered essential pre-requisites for this post:

Essential:
• MSCE: SharePoint
• Advanced, in-depth knowledge and experience of implementing complex SharePoint sites.
• Advanced knowledge and experience of configuring complex SharePoint sites
• Advanced knowledge and experience of developing web parts
• Experience of architecting, designing and implementing complex SharePoint sites
• In depth understanding of wider IM/IX principles and techniques
• Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of a GIS and its applications to support business decision making
• Experience of direct customer liaison
• Able to interact confidently with customers

Desirable:
• Knowledge and experience of GIS, especially Esri technology
• Experience integrating Esri technology with SharePoint
• Understanding and experience of the wider Defence and Security domains.
• Ability to support wider Business Development and promotion activities.
• Understanding or experience in delivering MoD R&D programmes.
• Experience of design and deployment of geospatial web applications
• Experience of other geospatial software including open source

Work Activities
• My client’s personnel are employed on a wide variety of projects across the Defence and Security domain, with personnel working both as individuals, and as part of a wider team. On occasion, personnel are embedded into customer organisations to provide direct support to the customer.
• As well as technical integration, configuration and development outputs, other outputs and deliverables are varied and include written reports and investigations, verbal presentations or the running of workshops to capture user requirements.

Personal Attributes
This role is an ideal opportunity for an experienced SharePoint technical consultant who is seeking a specialist environment in which they can directly contribute the successful development of the company. They seek self-motivated, self-directed and organised individuals, who are able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines, possess good communication skills, and use their initiative, especially when working towards personal and work related goals. The following personal attributes are considered essential:
• A strong team player with the ability to share information, offer support and provide guidance to both colleagues and customers.
• Ability to deliver/manage disparate work streams or lead smaller engagements
• Able to prioritise effectively and work to demanding timelines
• Willing to travel on a national and international basis and to work off site for periods of time throughout the year
• Experience of small (self-directed) to medium scale project management

Education
• Essential educated up to at least BSc at 2:1, IT, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Desirable educated to MSc, and any education involving GIS

Other Relevant Factors
• British Citizen (foreign nationals by exception) holding a High Level Security clearance (or willingness/ ability to achieve clearance).
• Resident in the UK for the last ten years.
• Willing to travel on a national and international basis and to work off site for short periods of time throughout the year.
• The role will require regular attendance at the company offices in Gloucestershire with the remainder of the time on client sites or, by exception, home working.
