My client is an engineering company that services the Oil and Gas industry and are now seeking additional Electrician to join this expanding and dynamic company.

You will be reporting to the Senior Electrician and you will be based at my client’s site in Aberdeen, however you may be required to travel to clients locations as well.

As an Electrician, you are expected to carry out preventative and reactive maintenance of the plant’s electrical equipment, in a safe and competent manner in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Therefore your main duties and responsibilities will include:-
• Carryout Fixed and Portable appliance testing.
• Carryout breakdown response including fault finding
• General electrical installation and maintenance.
• Construct small control panels.
• Minimisation of down time.
• Record maintenance work carried out.
• Assist mechanical engineers when required.
• Must be prepared to work shifts including nights and cover 24 hour callout when required.

Therefore you will need the following Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Training
Qualifications
Required:
• Full recognised electrical apprenticeship.
• Good general standard of education.
• 16/17th edition qualification.
Desirable:
• ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering or related subject.
• Elevated platform license.
• Be graded to Approved standard.
• Practical experience in a similar role.

Experience
Required:
• Knowledge of 3PH/1PH motor controls.
• Ability to fault find using drawings and schematics.
• Ability to work with most forms of cable and wiring mediums.
Desirable:
• Previous maintenance within a factory / production environment.
• Control panel construction.
• Overhead Crane repair and maintenance.
• Repair knowledge of hand tools and equipment.

Skills/Training
Required:
• Flexible with regard to working hours.
• Ability to work at heights from work platforms and scaffolds.
• Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with written and spoken English.
• Basic Health and safety awareness
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Clean UK driving licence.
Desirable:
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative and within a team.
• PLC knowledge and understanding.
• PC literate.

This is an ideal role for an individual with a strong electrical background, from say RE, RN or RAF who have worked on heavy plant or armoured vehicles.

In return they are offering an excellent hourly rate, and as you are working shifts, 0600 – 1400hrs, 1400 – 2200hrs and 2200 – 0600hrs, there are uplifts on the two later shifts, as well as overtime when you have worked over 40hrs per and Saturday working, so therefore you can increase your earnings dramatically.
