We have an exciting opportunity for experienced high quality instructors to join the SkillForce team as we expand into North Wales (Wrexham and Flitnshire areas).

Instructors will be delivering our new Prince William Award to children in schools aged 6-14 years; the award focusses on character and resilience education and dares young people to be their best selves. As in instructor you need to be able to motivate and inspire students, unlocking their potential and improving their life chances.

SkillForce is a charity that works in partnership with schools, drawing upon the skills of predominantly but not exclusively ex-Forces personnel, to inspire young people to succeed. In partnership with schools we deliver a curriculum and activities that provide young people with knowledge, skills, experience and long term personal support and most importantly, the self-belief to aspire and achieve. Our vision is that every young person, whatever their background or ability is given the chance to fulfil their true potential and become a valued member of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

·Deliver the SkillForce curriculum and other courses and qualifications to students, including activities on residential courses, external trips, expeditions and income generation projects.

·Build rapport with the students constantly maintaining a professional manner while being flexible in approach to students and having the ability to adapt to individual learning styles.

·Be effective communicators with excellent team working skills and the ability to form positive relationships with colleagues, schools and young people.

·Create a positive and supportive learning environment for our young people, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.

·Develop creative and innovative programmes and schemes of works for our students within the criteria set out by awarding bodies ensuring accurate timetabling of syllabus to meet prescribed deadlines.

·Produce and implement risk assessments to ensure our duty of care is adhered to.

·Assess and moderate work, reporting on progress and ensure the students’ progress as planned.

Key Skills/Qualifications required:

·The ability to speak fluent Welsh will be a requirement in some delivery areas.

·Ideally will hold a Level 4 Certificate in Education or equivalent, or a willingness to undertake training to achieve this.

·Must be qualified to a minimum Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy.

·To hold a full driving licence, ideally including category D1 (or be willing to work towards D1 if not currently held).

·Experience of working effectively with challenging young people, under performers and gifted individuals.

·Experience of producing schemes of work and lesson plans and planning educational activities.

·Knowledge of Diversity, Health & Safety, Child Protection and Safeguarding legislation.

The instructor roles will cover programme delivery in the North Wales/Bangor area and candidates must be willing to travel in and around this area to deliver. The role requires lone working and is remotely managed by an Area Manager.
