Reporting to: School Business Manager
Hours per week: 37.
07.30am start.
52 week contract includes 25 days holiday plus statutory holidays
Key working relationships:
• SBM and Principal
• All staff and pupils within the school
• External visitors and contractors
Purpose of the job:
To support the school in providing a safe, clean and well maintained environment so that children are able to learn and all visitors to the school are kept safe.
Duties and responsibilities:
Ensuring security of the school at all times, including unlocking and locking up and to assist pupils, staff and visitors at these times.
Monitoring the activities of visitors and contractors to ensure safety and security of the school premises and equipment.
Assist in the health and safety management of the school
Maintain the fire and burglar alarms in working order and to arrange repairs and recommissioning as required.
To maintain appropriate service records of all emergency equipment.
To monitor and arrange for relevant premises contracts to be in place, service records maintained, statutory inspections completed and repairs carried out as required.
To monitor energy consumption, maintain records and produce periodic reports as requested.
To replace light sources as required in a safe manner.
To operate, maintain and clean heating equipment and facilities and ensure servicing is completed in accordance with required schedules.
To ensure the distribution and replenishment of consumables, e.g. soap, paper towels, toilet supplies etc.
To perform minor maintenance and repairs to plant, equipment, furniture and the fabric of the building including making good abuse of the premises.
To organise grounds maintenance and horticultural duties, and undertake some duties as required.
To clean up and make good following minor emergencies eg. Small fires, flooding and spillages.
To assist in the disposal of all waste materials, equipment and furniture beyond repair.
To ensure the safe and hygienic condition of the waste collection point.
To maintain clear and free running gullies, gutters and rainwater pipes.
To ensure the good working order of all exits.
To ensure that all drives and pathways are kept from of ice, snow and obstructions and apply salt/ grit as appropriate.
To help monitor the effectiveness of the cleaning contractor, and to maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the premises in school closure times.
To ensure that all hard areas, play areas, pathways, car parks and driveways are kept clean and tidy and free from litter.
To assist with all procedures concerning lettings as required.
To oversee annual PAT testing
To maintain the asset tagging system
Any other task which may reasonably be requested.

Pay: Grade G, currently £18560 to £20456
