Depot Driver/Servicing Technician vacancy in Near Edinburgh (161bh)

My client is a major provider of transportation services throughout Scotland and is urgently seeking drivers who can also maintain large specialist vehicles at one of his depots near Edinburgh. He is looking for engineering team members who can drive and direct the safe movement of these vehicles within the depot. Duties will include driving, maintenance, fault finding and repair. As a fully integrated member of the engineering team you will also be required to carry out other related tasks such as reception duties, service quality inspections, and salting and snow clearance when required. The client is keen to develop as diverse a workforce as possible, so applications from suitably qualified women will be particularly welcome.

My client is looking for highly motivated team players who have a highly flexible outlook and a willingness to learn new skills and procedures for the benefit of the organisation. Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience of working in an engineering environment and have excellent interpersonal skills. These posts involve working a variety of shifts and weekend working is compulsory. The average working week is 35 hours.

There is a demanding, time consuming selection process for these posts. After completing a comprehensive on-line application, short listed candidates will be invited to attend an assessment centre. Successful candidates at this stage will be invited to take part in further series of driving and engineering assessments. Due to the nature of these posts and industry safety requirements there are strict medical fitness standards that must be met. You will also be screened for drug and alcohol abuse during the selection process. In addition, candidates must provide a basic Disclosure Scotland check, at least two satisfactory references and complete a six month probation period.

In return for this, my client offers a fully comprehensive training package and a basic salary of £35,415 pa, rising to £36,596 after all training and the probationary period have been completed. There is also a contributory final-salary pension scheme and the offer of free (or well subsidised) travel for you and your family.
