Business Development Executive vacancy in Corsham, Wiltshire (181bh)

My client is a worldwide company that provide a range of equipment based on energetic materials for the Military, Civil Defence and selected commercial clients and they are now seeking to recruit a new Business Development Executive due to pending retirement.

In this role, you will be responsible for establishing, communicating and championing the delivery of strategic action plans which will grow profitable sales of demolition explosives and associated stores to meet the company's five-year growth plans.

Key Accountabilities & Duties:
• To maintain and expand the range demolition store capabilities procured by the UK MoD.
• To develop ongoing business opportunities with ancillary UK MoD related organisations
• Support the development of a long-term relationship with NATO, in particular its logistical planning and procurement organisations.
• Support the development of a network of approved agents and resellers in key European countries.
• Deliver the budgeted sales targets, for the above sectors, in line with the company’s 5yr operating plan.

The ideal candidate will need the following:
Key characteristics:
• Communication skills: strong communication skills are essential in this role, particularly the ability to listen and absorb detail. The ability brief people, at all levels of the UK MoD, NATO and the company, logically and concisely are also required.
• Strategic thinker: this role demands that the individual not only focuses on the existing company product range but can also identify market “gaps” and opportunities for the development of new products or “land and expand” opportunities.
• Thought Leadership/Influencer: the ability to take people on a journey and influence their thinking in order to bring an opportunity to fruition is key in this role, both internally within the company leadership structure, and externally with the Customer.
• Motivation: a self-starter that can manage their own time, objectives and priorities without the need for micro-management.
• Trustworthy: the ability to quickly develop relationships based on trust, with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Tenacious: taking “Can Do” to the next level, not easily distracted or demoralised, will keep going until the objective is achieved.
• Diplomatic: knows when to tactfully let the Customer have the final say or find another means of securing an opportunity without confrontation.
• Innovative: someone that can think outside of the box when those around them remain blinkered by preconceptions. Not afraid to ask the daft questions in order to challenge the status quo.

The idea candidate would be an experienced user/instructor of demolition explosives. Ideally an experienced UK Royal Engineer with operational combat engineering exposure or a Special Forces background. Use of explosives underwater would be a distinct advantage as would any EOD related experience, participation in UK MoD qualification programmes or entry to service instruction.

Preferential but not essential:
• A degree in a related science or subject.
• One or more European languages
• Good understanding of accounting/financial forecasting

This role will be based at their Corsham facility in the South West of the UK, however consideration will be given to a limited degree of home working if necessary. This role will require regular international travel throughout Europe.
