My client is one of the globes leading integrator of payment and information solutions and related services for intelligent travel applications, and they are now seeking to recruit an Engineering Works Manager for their expanding team.

They challenge themselves to remain at the forefront of their industry and continually develop new tools to keep up with ever-changing technologies and the growing demand for simpler travel solutions.

Your role will be to provide support to the Capital Works Team, primarily Minor Capital works & Supplementary works and is required to manage and deliver, on street Transportation Engineering projects required by TfL.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Management of specific individual Capital & Minor Capital Works and supplementary Projects.
• Identification of Capital Works / Supplementary Works Opportunities.
• Ensuring that projects are delivered to specification on time and on budget.
• Involvement in the preparation of project progress reports for TFL.
• Involvement in the preparation of financial reports for TfL and company.
• Involvement in the preparation of Interim Certificates to TfL.
• Ensuring that invoices from Suppliers and Contractors are processed correctly
• Involvement in the Liaison with TFL and Capital Works Project Managers to develop and update One London Capital Works Programme.
• Preparation of Quotations to TfL. This involves:
1. Identification of Opportunities;
2. Development of scope of supply based on TfL brief;
3. Obtaining and evaluating quotations from Suppliers and Subcontractors;
4. Ensuring that Company Governance procedure is adhered to;
5. Technical, financial and commercial reviews; and
6. Gate 4 reviews where applicable.
• Preparation of Subcontract Agreements where applicable
• Ensure that Site Instructions are received from the Client prior to works commencing.
• Ensure that POs are raised with Suppliers and Subcontractors.
• Involvement in Project reviews and production of 4-weekly progress and VOWD reports for TfL.
• Production of monthly VOWD financial details to Company Programme Management.
• Monitoring and control of subcontractors and suppliers, via regular progress meetings, to ensure that projects are being delivered to specification, on time and within budget.
• Develop and maintain Risk Register throughout the project lifecycles.
• Negotiate with TfL and their agents to apprise them of forthcoming works and secure road space and agree traffic management measures.
• Ensure that factory, local and site acceptance testing activities are carried out in a satisfactory manner and that results are recorded.
• Ensure that all handover documentation including H&S information is collated and handed over to TfL.
• Attendance as required at the following meetings:
1. Periodic contract meeting with client;
2. Periodic finance meetings with client;
3. Two-weekly progress meetings with client (this is a more detailed summary of project progress with the TfL Capital Works Team.
4. Internal Finance meeting following submission of VOWD report (monthly if required);
5. On-demand internal project meetings (to discuss specific project progress and programming);
• On-demand project work-shops (workshops looking at specific projects and discussion with suppliers and clients on strategic way forward);
• On-demand meetings with suppliers and subcontractors (to discuss programming, delivery, risk and issues);
• On-demand quotation reviews (at various levels to discuss the quotations for approval in terms of cost, commercial, risk etc); and
• On-demand meetings with TfL and their agents to appraise of forthcoming works and agree access and traffic management requirements.
• Perform safety tours

Qualifications/skills
Essential:
• Qualified to HNC or higher in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience in a similar role including ‘hands on’
• Proven experience of engineering, management of Contractors, management of multi-project programs.
• Excellent Client facing skills
• Possess a full driving licence
• Previous experience of managing projects involving Highways Agency NMCS2 infrastructure is desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desirable:
• Prince 2 Practitioner
• Microsoft Project proficient
• Microsoft Office Accreditation
• Electrical qualifications
• Previous experience of managing projects involving Highways Agency NMCS2 infrastructure

• Have a positive, flexible and proactive approach
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Resilient and capable of working effectively under pressure;
• Flexible with the ability to find a solution to problems
• Ability to find and implement solutions to problems
• Good Numerate and written skills

Health, Safety, Environmental and Risk:
• Report accidents involving staff and patients according to established procedures and in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
• Report immediately any incidents, accidents, complaints or other occurrences involving visitors or staff. Resolve wherever possible complete accurate statements and report to the appropriate manager as soon as possible.
• Report defects in the equipment and the general fabric of any building to the appropriate manager of the Organisation.
• Take action to assess the management of risk to reduce where possible the impact on visitors, staff and property.

The ideal individual would probably be SNCO/WO or Officer from a construction or engineering background, who is seeking to move into a more management type role in the near future.
