POST TITLE: Hospitality and Catering Trainer and Assessor (LSDO)

DIRECTORATE: Hospitality and Catering

GRADE: SOH

RESPONSIBLE TO: CRQ Leader for Work Based Learning


AIMS AND PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The purpose of the role is to provide services to employers which meet the needs of their business by; facilitating access to funded and unfunded learning and skills development, for them and their employees .Managing individual’s learning and skills programmes to ensure timely and successful completion and arranging registration, assessment in the workplace and internal verification for accredited learning.



KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To arrange appointments and attend employer’s premises to:
 provide information, advice and guidance services
 conduct interviews and initial assessments
 carryout start and induction processes including health and safety checks
 negotiate appropriate Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
 conduct progress reviews
• To carry out timely, accurate and audit compliant completion of all administration processes
• To arrange as appropriate, for the provision of learning and skills development and testing away from the workplace
• To ensure that, where provision of external accreditation has been agreed appropriate registration with awarding bodies has been completed
• To deliver assessment in the workplace for accredited learning and to provide internal verification of other’s assessments
• To maintain high standards of customer service through effective communication and timely response
• To maintain an up to date operational knowledge of applicable eligibility criteria, funding rules, audit requirements and other conditions pertaining to current learning and skills programmes
• To carry out marketing and promotional activities to support employer engagement
• To support contract reviews and audits
• To identify and propose development actions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of provision
• To implement evaluation systems to capture feedback from employers and employees
• To commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
• To take direct responsibility for own continuous professional development.
• To participate in the College’s Coaching and Development Scheme.
• To undertake such other duties as are commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.
• To comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Regulations. To take reasonable care for the health and safety of him/herself and for others affected by his/her work and to co-operate with the employer in ensuring that the Health and Safety responsibilities are carried out.
• To comply with the requirements of College Equality and Diversity scheme.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Attainments:
• Level 3 qualification relevant to the post
• Teaching experience and qualification
• An Assessor or Verifier award

General Skills:
• Relevant industrial experience
• Sound communication, administrative and IT skills
• IAG experience
• Knowledge of the local labour market
• Initial and vocational assessment experience

Specific Special Skills:
• Experience of working in a Head Chef or Commis Chef position
• An operational understanding of relevant funding methodologies
• Promotional and marketing skills
• Customer service focused
• Problem solving and decision making skills
• Maintain quality in the delivery of services
• Manage change and continuous improvement
• Experience working in Housekeeping, Restaurant, Front of House or Facilities roles

Personal Qualities:
• Patience, tolerance and the ability to work well with culturally diverse people
• Flexible and adaptable
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic

• Willing to work flexible hours in various locations
