General Commodities and Supplies Commodity Manager vacancy in Bristol (214jc)

This client, who is a global provider of world class, end-to-end supply chain services across a variety of sectors and are currently seeking a General Commodities and Supplies Commodity Manager for their MoD contract.

You will be reporting to the Head of Commodity Management and working in the Commodity Management team, and your role will be to provide a customer-facing, technical-focused team covering all elements that define an item of supply including Acquisition Safety Management and Product Quality Assurance.

Therefore your responsibilities will include:
• Be the main customer interface for the General Commodities and Supplies Commodity area
• Manage and develop the GS Commodity team comprising GS Technicians, Food Technicians and Fuel Technicians.
• Interpret customer requirements and generate product specifications.
• Challenge the customers’ wants versus needs.
• Visit Suppliers and relevant Industry Meetings and Exhibitions to maintain and enhance product knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
• Appropriate business qualification/degree.
• Line management acumen and experience.
• Computer literate, with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes.

This role would suit an individual who has a wealth of technical and hands on experience of the logistics procurement systems in the Forces, and you will be acting as a lynch pin between the company and the MOD in translating MOD requirements for equipment and materials into language which can be understood by the internal procurement teams to source what is being requested.
