My client is one of the UK's leading engineering support services organisation employing over 28,000 people across the world, who offer a hugely diverse number of career options are now seeking to recruit an Engineer - Design Authority Requirement for their operation at Keynsham.

Have you ever considered how many individual components, systems and interfaces there are in the most complex man-made engineering asset in use by the Royal Navy today?

They manage this complexity on a daily basis by ensuring that the maintenance regime in support of Royal Navy submarine systems and equipment is continually relevant and fit for purpose.

My client is looking for a talented and meticulous person with a strong Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) background to join our Technical Team.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious candidate to get a broad range of experience in a FTSE100 company that is leading the delivery of In Service Support to a variety of Nations and Naval Vessels across the world.

This opportunity is on a full-time permanent basis which is primarily based in Keynsham or Bristol.

Main Purpose of Role
• The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of submarine work packages, through the Rolling Design Authority Requirement (RDAR) database. In delivering this role the post holder will act as the point of contact for the allocated work package.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for presenting their outputs to the customer and wider stakeholder community in a clear, concise and effective manner.
• To achieve this aim, the successful candidate will work closely with Royal Naval personnel, design, equipment authorities and Naval Bases within the MoD and the wider community to support the management of the submarine work packages.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences
Technical Competencies
• The ability to understand and deliver technical requirements.
• The ability to manage and deliver a number of tasks on time, within budget and meeting customer quality standards.
• The ability to apply engineering judgement to real world engineering challenges.

Key Behavioural competencies
• Manage complex activities or projects and the ability to take responsibility for decision making.
• To work in a structured way ensuring efficient use of time.
• Maintain ownership and commitment to deliver results, against their own responsibilities, even when difficulties arise.
• Undertakes development of own skills to ensure that the demands of the role today and in the future can be achieved.
• Good organisational and communication skills.

Essential Experience
• Proficient in the use of appropriate Project Management & standard MS IT tools.

Desirable Experience
• Experience of Royal Navy submarines from a design, maintenance or operational perspective.
• Experience of Maintenance methodology.

Qualifications
• Foundation Degree in a relevant STEM discipline; or
• Qualified to HND / BTEC Level 5 in a relevant STEM discipline may be acceptable augmented by experience in a relevant engineering field.
• Incorporated Engineer, or working towards registration with an appropriate engineering institution.

Security
Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.

The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.
