Case Study: How we secured a new key recruit for a leading MoD supplier
April 26, 2019 Case Studies
The client is a leading supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence. They approached Ex-Mil Recruitment as they were seeking to recruit a Program Manager with the ability to act as an interface between their management team, other staff members and outside contractors as well as the MoD during a period of sustained growth for the company.
After meeting with the client and getting a complete understanding of the short- and longer-term goals for this role, we quickly came to an understanding of exactly the type of individual they were seeking to recruit.
Ex-Mil carried out some market analysis on the type of individuals and their salary and benefits package were on offer to similar roles in this sector, it was agreed to offer a package that was better than most to attract the best individuals for this key role.
We then carried out a mixture of database searching, advertising and targeting potential candidates via various means and due to this activity, we quickly established a short list of ten individuals who could fill the role and after extensive interviews we were able to reduce this further to five to six individuals who were presented to the client.
The client interviewed four of the candidates on first round interviews over a period of 2 days, and was then able to reduce these down to following a second round of interviews with the Managing Director.
The client appointed one of the candidates after the second round of interviews.
The client’s feedback on the process was positive and everything ran smoothly. The only trouble was that they found it very difficult to choose candidates for the second round of interviews, as they felt all the candidates presented could do the role very well because Ex-Mil had not only recruited for the skills base, but also matched the personality profile of the company very well.
All the candidates gave positive feedback and since we closed the recruitment for this role, two of them are now clients and have asked us to assist with sourcing candidates for their current companies.
Ex-Mil have sourced an excellent candidate for our current needs, and I have referred them to other line managers within the group as to their abilities and the skills and knowledge level of their candidates for any future roles within the group.
The successful candidate has been working for the client for two months now and his over the moon with the role, he is relishing the opportunity within the company already and sees a clear progression within the company for the future.
It was a pleasure to work with this client who had a clear and defined picture of what they needed, but who also had the ability to take on board our recommendations and thoughts and amend the criteria in line with our recommendations. We must have impressed, as we have already been approached by a different division of the company who are seeking a similar post in their team.
