Are your looking for a challenge and a change of life direction,…….my client who is a major service company based in the Falkland Islands are now looking for a enterprising Management Couple or Individual to manage a small estate and lodge in Darwin.

You will have nominal reporting to the Operations in Stanley and you will have full day to day responsibility for running this estate and lodge.

The main part of your role will be to look after a small boarding lodge/Guest House/Public House, where you will have full responsibility.

You will be tasked to maintain and build on the reputation of the lodge, offering boarding, food and hospitality to service personnel, contractors and locals. The lodge has a cook and handyman working in the site during the high season, which is from July to about April, and at the moment shuts down from April to August, which is their winter.

In addition to running the lodge, there may be the ability to act as a small holder, growing your own crops and raising life stock, but this would be down to the individual couple, which can be used to supplement your income.

To be eligible for this role you will need to have bags of drive, enthusiasm, stamina and commitment, as well as the ability to develop business and enhance the lodge’s reputation.

Until fairly recently the estate was held in private hands, but had recently been purchase by my client and they are looking to enhance the site further, and they have invested into the structure and facilities of the estate to further enhance the facilities.

The ideal couple/individual would need to have a full driving licence and computer skills, as well as hospitality and cooking ability, however there is a full time cook on site, so you will be assisting and giving cover when there are not there. In addition, general handyman skills as well as grounds keeping skills are needed as well as the ability to provide battlefield, wildlife and cultural tours for tourists during the high season would be an advantage, after training.

This role is a 7 day week role during the high season, however the pace of life is much slower and more relaxed on a day to day basis.

In return, they are offering an excellent package for the right team or individual, with all of your accommodation, food, utilities, flights, medical and most other costs covered by the company, and depending on the individuals, there could be potential profit share scheme in place.

As stated, the site is closed for 3 months during the winter, but they are open to individuals who would wish to stay for the full 12 months or longer.

The ideal individuals would be someone who is seeking to get back to the land so to speak and to take life at a slightly slower pace, but at the same time wish to be kept busy, due to the distances and location, this is not a role for the feint hearted
