Communications Director vacancy in Mayfair, London (038jc)

My client, unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams in the UK and around the world and are currently seeking to recruit a Communications Director.

You will be part of the Senior Management team and your role will be to define and position the Team Rubicon brand in the UK market and the international humanitarian sector

Therefore your Key Responsibilities will include:
• Create a robust, innovative and engaging communications strategy for TRUK including the core narrative for the organisation
• Quickly define TRUK’s brand and develop guidelines to manage its use and protect the charity’s reputation
• Ensure that the public views TRUK favourably by utilising positive messaging, leveraging current affairs and taking a professional approach to story telling
• Create and launch press releases and marketing campaigns at strategic periods to drive engagement and donor development activity
• Work closely with the CEO and Ops Director to develop volunteer engagement and acquisition plans
• Drive corporate strategy and message development, pitch and announcement strategies
• Develop communication strategies for delivery of corporate culture and business strategy which informs and galvanises the executive and volunteer base
• Develop and manage strong media relationships and maximize opportunities to get TRUK coverage in print, radio and television as appropriate
• Develop internal publications such as newsletters, releases, email announcements, planned publications, on-line, intranet, video, special projects and assignments
• Create rich and creative content that is optimised for search engines
• Put in place crisis communications plans and breed in a culture of reputation management at all levels
• Create and implement an internal media awareness training programme for internal stakeholders

Therefore to be eligible for this role, you will need the following:
• Must have the tenacity and drive to define a brand and create a communication strategy from scratch in a fast paced and ambitious start-up
• Must be able to think laterally and be involved in cross functional working groups
• Ability to influence up to Board level, at home and internationally, whilst still being able to develop and work with a small and intimate executive team
• A clear understanding of how to engage with volunteers and keep the organisation aligned through effective communications
• Shows a thorough knowledge of content creation and can train volunteers to get rich content when deployed
• Developed understanding of the charity sector and the shifting landscape and a willingness to embrace this and look for new opportunities to engage with TRUK audiences.

This role will be primarily based in a London office. The role requires the flexibility to travel to Chilmark HQ to attend meetings as and when required.

The ideal candidate would probably be someone who has left the service some time ago, and built up significant experience in the commercial arena, preferably in the Communications sector, but within a fast moving commercial environment and the ability to promote the charity.
