Service Engineer vacancy in Surrey (145ls)

My client is a well-established global technology leader, providing a wide range of Electrical and Optical products for diverse markets around the world. They are known for providing high-quality Optical Cables, Fibers, Splicers and connectivity solutions to the telecoms market.
This Is a Laboratory based role in Surrey and your duties will include the following;

• Service & Repair business; to perform repairs from the service queue on a weekly basis to sustain the queue at a manageable level and to achieve target turnaround time. In addition, supporting the expansion/development of this business.

• Support to Hire & Loan business including; the preparation of fusion splicer’s and accessories to a high standard, handling of paperwork, ensuring T&C’s and Credit Application forms are completed, chasing up of loans & capped hires which have exceeded agreed period. Plus all other items relating to this business including selling/reconditioning of old/tired stock and generally supporting the expansion/development of H&L business.

• Productivity; to maintain healthy throughput of work to meet both target turnaround time and departmental (service & hire) sales target.

• Provide Technical Training; using modern training tools (PowerPoint) to fellow engineers, colleagues & distributors. Plus assisting with course arrangements.

• Developing new training course notes; when receiving training on new products released

• Technical support; face to face, telephone, e-mail.

• Keeping the lab tidy; on a day to day basis and general awareness of health & safety. This is to help ensure a safe working environment for ALL.

• Maintaining the service department files (on server) tidy & organised.

• To keep pace with technical bulletins in relation to adjustments, batch problems, changes in spec, software/firm ware upgrade and so on.

• Compliance with H&S and company/departmental processes & procedures.

• To undertake training & support towards other products & services as and when required.


To be eligible for this role you must have the following;
• Experience, understanding & qualification in the handling/repair of electro-mechanical and fibre optic equipment.
• Computer literate in e-mail, word, excel and PowerPoint.
• Good communication skills - verbal and written.
• The ability to work in a pressured environment. Must be a positive and pro-active worker who is diligent, flexible and keen to learn.
• Driving license
• Ex-REME/Signals, or ex-Navy/RAF with electronic maintenance backgrounds.

Salary From £25,000 - £30,000 dependent on experience.
