My client is one of the largest independent engineering organisation of its kind in the South East, and they operate from 3 different sites covering and employ over 100 people with an annualised turnover exceeding £8million are now seeking to recruit additional Workshop Fitter to join the team at their office in Sittingbourne.

You will be responsible for mechanical fitting activities associated with the dismantling, inspection, repair and overhaul, assembly and testing of rotating equipment to deliver the highest quality of repair, on time and to budget, and in accordance with Company and customer specific HSEQ requirements.

Therefore, your key responsibilities and accountabilities will include:
• Dismantle, inspection, condition assessment & subsequent reporting on the received equipment.
• Liaise with supervisors and managers to propose repairs, refurbishment and processes to return identified equipment to a serviceable condition and to the relevant specifications.
• Carrying out various mechanical fitting activities with a degree of flexibility and integrity and working efficiently to achieve “on time” targets of an excellent quality to company procedures.
• A pro-active approach to health, safety and environmental practices in the workshop at all times and assist in driving the required culture by adopting our key safety values.
• Ensure all pre-safety checks are completed, and that all equipment and guarding in the fitting area is maintained to a high standard where appropriate liaising with Supervisor/Manager.
• Work with Supervisor/Manager to ensure accurate and on time completion of equipment repairs, completing strip down reports, assembly rebuild records, Workshop Instructions and Balance Certificates where applicable to meet departmental daily/weekly work schedules.
• Accountable for the part and full assembly of identified equipment and Customer acceptance testing.
• Ensure a high level of housekeeping and that your area of responsibility is visitor ready at all times using 5 S Techniques; actively participate where required to support the business continuous improvement projects.

• Ensure a high level of housekeeping and that your area of responsibility is visitor ready at all times using 5 S Techniques; actively participate where required to support the business continuous improvement projects.

To be eligible for this role you will need the following skills, experience and qualifications:
• Time served craftsperson in appropriate discipline or relevant qualifications and job experience.
• Experience of working with rotating equipment.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Confident communicator.
• Ability to solve practical problems and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and engineering drawings.
• Workshop based role in noisy engineering environment where use of PPE is mandatory.
• Strong awareness of company HSE policies and procedures and tools/access to online systems. Compliance with Weir duty of care and Zero harm requirements. Commitment to safety first towards self and staff. No task however big or small or commercially high value can’t be stopped due to safety concerns.
