My client, who is a global leader for innovation for a healthier world, wish over 10,000 employees across the globe, and their task is to help solve critical issues across for their clients are now seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their expanding team.

You will be reporting to a Service Manager and your role will be to impact positively on the overall performance of the Customer Service Department by maintaining a flexible approach to work. Planning and executing work in an effective and efficient manner, providing the highest levels of customer service support and the best possible financial performance.

You will be primarily supporting a specific product group but will also receive cross training on other products will also be provided.

Most customers will be in the greater London area, but as part of a small team of specialists, you will be expected to cover for colleagues on an ad hoc basis in the rest of UK & Ireland and occasionally to Scandinavia. Candidates located in Stevenage, Luton or Hatfield will be ideally placed to reach customers with minimum travel time.

Priorities and Objectives
• Performs field service as advised by the call dispatch staff/system in conjunction with the Team Leader, carrying our repairs, maintenance and installation of instrumentation and their accessories. Provide onsite user training on defined product groups.
• Organizing routine maintenance allocated on a monthly basis. Prepared to travel to Northern Europe at short notice to attend breakdowns with 48hrs of callout if required
• At the request of the Service Manager, performs service on behalf of my client’s overseas offices, to the standard expected in the UK, at sites of overseas customers
• Ensures that all documentation, circuit diagrams, Service Data Bulletins and manuals are of the correct revision to undertake service on specific instrument types. Maintains ancillary documentation e.g. Safety Manual, Procedures Manual to the highest standard with regular reviewing of manuals provided in accordance with the Quality Management System.
• Align personal working practices with the department’s performance targets. Actively demonstrate compliance with all team targets.
• Maintains personal service spares issued and inventory records to the highest standard. Ensures all anomalies are quickly and effectively reported and resolved.
• Ensures that all tools and test equipment is adequate to perform service required, and that all test equipment issued is calibrated at the times specified.
• Makes returns of all fully completed service documentation, Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expenses Claims, Motor Vehicle Log Sheets etc, on a weekly basis.
• May be requested to perform specific and agreed tasks as defined through the Goal statements, already embedded in the Company Culture.

To be considered for this role you will need the following qualifications, experience, and competencies:
• HND or equivalent in Electronic Engineering or a Biotechnology discipline
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Proven experience in a Customer Service Environment
• Strong Technical skills on Laboratory Instrumentation
• Background in Electronics preferably gained in a high technology service environment
• An understanding of analytical and clinical instrument applications an advantage
• Incumbent must have excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate in a professional manner with customers on all levels, providing service information, technical data and general help as necessary.
• Ability to communicate internally; orally and in writing.
• Negotiating and influencing skills
• Understanding of excellent Customer Service

The ideal candidate would be someone who has a strong background in complex electronics, i.e. radar or similar systems, who is able to travel and be away from home on average 1-2 nights per week, and on some occasions up to a week.
