Live in Valet/PA vacancy in Horsham (246jc)

My client is now seeking a Live-in Valet/PA to look after his father in his home in the Horsham district of West Sussex.

You will be the only individual who will be looking after the principle on a day-to-day basis, however there are other individuals who can also give assistance when required.

The principal, who is in his late 80’s, is suffering from early stages of Vascular Dementia. He is still relatively able and active and not at all a danger to anyone. He is ex-Fleet Air Arm and would welcome someone from a similar military background.

Therefore, your duties will include: -
• Making sure that the principal is properly dressed in the morning.
• Acting as a companion to the principal, which could mean driving him to various locations, escorting him to visit friends in the area, or other such activities as season and weather dictates.
• Keeping the principal happy and safe from harm, not letting him walk across roads etc without assistance, making sure that he eats properly, and that the fridge is kept stocked and the food is all in date.
• In the evening making sure the principal is safe and well and checking, securing the house and garage at night.
• Becoming part of the extended family to help care for him in the longer term.
• At the moment, there is no requirement for any medical intervention, as the principal is still very active and is able to fend for himself but is now starting to have memory lapses.

In return they are offering a good salary package, as well as free accommodation, as you will have a top floor flat in the main residence and full use of all the facilities on the grounds. You will also have 2 days off per week and other benefits will include your main meal every day. The flat, which is provided, has its own bedroom, bathroom, and lounge/kitchenette area, which will be fully furnished.

This role would suite a single male, as the principal is male, who has a caring and professional manner and who is looking for a steady role within a friendly and welcoming atmosphere which they can settle into for several years.

Due to the nature of this role, you will also need to be able to pass an enhanced CRB check and provide full references prior to meeting the principal and family.
