Our client, a prestigious management company, are looking for a candidate to take on the role of AVIT Technician, a member of the technical team within a luxury ‘7 Star’ Private Estate.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the AVIT Equipment is fully functioning throughout the estate, as well as supporting the technical department with wider issues. Sometimes you will be doing business as usual activities such as installing AVIT Equipment, whereas other times you will be providing short notice tech support for a range of different problems.
This role is a permanent position and would suit someone looking to spend at least 3 years in a Middle Eastern country, working on one of the most impressive private estates in the world. The position requires hard work, but provides you with a tax-free income, little expenses (food and accommodation are included), and a generous annual leave with a flight allowance.
Duties:
• Carry out routine inspections of the AVIT systems incorporated throughout the buildings, analyse and find cause of faults and report on repairs and maintenance requirements.
• Utilise experience and understanding of bespoke media, IT and actuator systems for programming, updating, maintaining and repairing.
• Operating within a team of 3 engineers, you will be expected to work in shifts to provide 24-hour cover.
Typical ETO and AVIT duties will include:
a. Reinstating signal after loss for Cable / DTV
b. Responding to and resolving Wi-Fi network outages or detecting and reporting black spots.
c. Supporting users who need help connecting to networks, devices and peripherals.
d. Supporting HVAC team for network related or BMS related networking issues
e. Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
f. Setting up new users’ accounts and profiles and deal with password issues
g. Testing and evaluating new technology
h. Conducting electrical safety checks on AVIT equipment
• Provide back end support for Delta Building Management System, DEF Cassiopeia fire detection system
• Manage and maintain desktop computers, servers, printers, switches, routers, firewalls,
• VoIP phone system, software implementations, security updates, VPN gateways, file servers, intrusion detection systems and a wide range of additional technologies associated with both software and hardware within the network.
• Coordinate repairs and make recommendations for equipment purchase, system design and utilization.
• Review vendor contacts and coordinate IT purchases (hardware, software and services) to ensure effective deployment of solutions aligned with company needs.
• Support staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues.
• Support the AVIT/ETO Team Leader, Deputy Technical Officer and Chief Technical Officer with the production of operational documents, standard operating procedures, checklists, forms, and the implementation of departmental policies.
• Monitor the Technical Department’s electronics inventory in coordination with the Technical Storekeeper and assign tasks as appropriate.
Your Experience
• A formal qualification in electronics engineering or a computer technology related subject
• Proven experience with AV sources, control and distribution systems: IPTV management, TVRO, VoD, DigiValet, Crestron, CCTV, Lutron, users iPad devices, Background Music System, Gaming Consoles.
• You will need in depth knowledge of AVIT – with ability to troubleshoot RF networks for Satellite / Cable TV and the ability to configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP on fibre, UTP and Wi-Fi data networks
• Knowledge of Windows, Apple and Android systems, phones and tablets - able to provide tech support for users, able to diagnose and fix common PC problems
• Excellent skills in fault finding and assessment of remedial action to be taken.
• Workplace Health and Safety Compliance – ensure safe work practices are maintained and complied with.
• Proven ability with writing reports, worklists, specifications and scopes of work.
• Full driving licence.
