Approved Electrician (025jc) – Mid Glamorgan – from £18.40 per hour dependant on experience

My client, who is a major player in the defence sector both in the UK and Overseas are now seeking an Approved Electrician to join their team.

As an approved electrician you will be expected to possess practical, productive, and electrical engineering skills with adequate technical supervisory knowledge so as to be able to work on your own proficiency and carry out electrical installation work as required without immediate supervision. You are required to be able to set out jobs from drawing and/or specifications and requisition the necessary installation materials. You must also accept responsibility for the proper completion of jobs and, if required, supervise other operatives in a reasonable, efficient, and economical manner. Before application you will have full and proper working knowledge of the National Working Rules for the Electrical Contracting Industry and the current IEE wiring regulations along with relevant British Standards, Code of Practice, and safety regulations.

Desired Skills and Experience
• You must fully meet the JIB Grading rules for the grade of Approved Electrician
• You must have demonstrated competence in Inspection & Testing and obtained either
o Level 3 Certification in the Certificate of Electrical Installations, or;
o Both the Level 3 Award in Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations and the Level 3 Award in Periodic, Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations
• You must have at least 2 years’ experience working as an electrician after the satisfactory completion of apprenticeship/training
• You must be experienced in working with all types of containment installation and cabling including Unistrut, ladder racking and SWA cables
• You must have achieved or be willing to achieve SSSTS qualification
• You must be willing to learn on the job and accept training and development opportunities when they arise to enable us to provide progression within your role
• You must meet all requirements as set out in our ‘summary’ of the role advertised and must be able to provide scenarios or examples if/when required at interview stage
• You must have proof of your qualifications and have these available for review
• You must hold a full valid driving licence and you must declare any driving offences
• You must be willing to work away from home and be open to flexible working hours including over weekends and on public holidays.
