My client who are an established Green Recycling company who have recently undergone a significant investment program are now seeking to recruit two additional Shift Productions Manager for their team.

The company was established in 1985 and has become one of the major recycling and wates Management companies in Wales.

As part of their expansion program and to allow for extended running hours, they are seeking to recruit additional Shift process/Production Managers who are highly disciplined self-starters and forward thinkers with a continuous improvement mindset, to not only improve their own skills and that of their team, but also play a significant part in developing and improving processes and systems whilst continually improving quality and the services we can provide to customers.

What they do
Processing operations at the Rhymney facility include:
• Recycling of Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
• Dismantling of TV’s /Monitors (CRT, FPD, LCD & LED) /Computers recovering valuable commodities whilst safely disposing of hazardous content.
• Re Processing of ferrous and non-ferrous content material into valuable commodities.
• Sort and recovery of mixed dry commercial waste products
• Specialist separation and size reduction.

The role
As a shift manager you will manage a specific commodity processing stream, along with general site operations. All Managers will be involved with further site/process development and investment for the future and be expected to work a rotating shift pattern which will involve a duty out of hours “on call” rota.
You are expected to lead the shift with focus on people, safety, quality, and performance excellence. You will ensure that the Production schedule is met safely, at the right quality first time, on time, in full, at cost, and by the most efficient utilisation of the resources.

You will be responsible for:
• Leading your specific processing stream whilst liaising with other stream leaders to cover general operations at certain times of the day.
• Determining work requirements, priorities, and best use of resources to ensure that production targets are fulfilled in full every shift.
• Ensuring accurate and efficient receipt and dispatch of all materials relevant to specific processing streams
• Management of consumables (inc PPE, equipment, and packaging) for your particular stream
• Monitoring and reporting progress of daily operations and keeping the Site Manager informed of performance against target and reasons for downtime and discrepancies
• Utilising production data to improve performance and efficiency and ensuring accurate data input and output.
• Aiming to exceed targets set and ensuring/improving quality standards
• Upholding existing and developing/implementing new, SSOW / SOP’s / Risk Assessments and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Regulations
• Ensuring plant and equipment remains in good working order through effective maintenance scheduling and making recommendations for equipment replacement.
• Motivating, training, and developing employees to ensure competency and promoting team working/ethics and maintaining good employee relations via two-way communication, including toolbox talks, conducting return to work interviews and disciplinary/grievance meetings as required.
• Working with Senior management to establish goals and objectives for your streams in alignment with company strategic goals
• Continuing and developing a culture of sustainable improvement throughout the site

Candidates
These are not roles for the faint hearted, nor office based and will be on a rota basis. We see post Covid and Brexit combined as a massive opportunity to develop a world leading facility to support the environmental ambitions of the UK’s political establishment. To enable us to achieve our goal however, we need to be prepared for any eventuality, to expect the unexpected, to put our head where it hurts and to strive to extract every piece of value from all inbound material.
You will:
• have proven experience within a similar shift management position within a manufacturing environment (preferred)
• preferably have experience of Recycling / Waste Management operations and /or copper-based commodities recovery (preferred)
• understand and be able to step in and carry out any of the processes under your leadership.
• not be afraid of getting your hands dirty, literally; much of the initial sorting and processing is carried out by hand and then further processed by machinery.
• have the ability to think on your feet, have good attention to detail and keep calm under pressure.
• have a ‘can do’ and ‘lead by example’ attitude.
• constantly be looking for ways to improve.
• An understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation preferably with a recognised qualification.
• An excellent communicator with ability to lead, motivate and influence everyone on site.
• Have the expertise to manage at shop floor tactical level but equally comfortable with strategic planning and long term, wide scope thinking.
• Be dedicated to their role and comfortable adapting their working pattern to suit the needs of the business.

Other skill sets
• Minimum 3 years supervisory/management experience essential
• Ideally a WAMITAB qualification but training will be provided for the right candidate.
• Computer literate with Microsoft Word & Excel essential, with Microsoft PowerPoint experience an advantage.

There are two roles on offer with the following shift patterns:
Days Mon – Fri 0600 to 1600hrs Salary £36,500
Nights Mon – Thur 1800 to 0630 hrs Salary £40,000

In addition to the above salaries as well as 28 days leave, Company Pension Private Medical insurance, Perkbox scheme, as well as free on-site parking, canteen and uniform, as well as joining a company on the ground floor that is looking to expand and grow in the future.
