Our client is a leading provider of Uninterrupted Power Systems, they are now seeking a detailed orientated, results driven Machine Safety Consultant Engineer with a background in engineering and control systems, they will be required to provide PUWER assessments and CE reviews on behalf of their clients and internal customers alike.

Working within the team, the Safety Consultant provides safety guidance to customers on the best way to achieve machine safety compliance to the applicable safety standards and regulations. The Safety Consultant also visits customer sites, conducts risk assessments, provides safety reports, and performs safety design reviews, as well as other similar consulting-type activities. This person will be responsible for identifying opportunities for growth and development of the companies’ services, as well as driving and developing the safety consulting business.

The Role:
This exciting role gives you opportunities to become a valued member of a small team and gain expertise in machinery safety. As the company expands, this role is ideally positioned to grow responsibility. Staged training will be given to the successful candidate to build knowledge and experience and confidence to become an excellent and respected consultant.
The key purpose of this role is to provide clients with a compliance service related to machine safety in respect to guarding and safety related control systems. This will primarily involve carrying out PUWER assessments and CE marking for machines and complex assemblies.

Main responsibilities include: -
Consultancy services at design and installation stage - Site audits and testing of existing plant and equipment, covering PUWER and CE requirements - Pre-delivery inspections - Training staff, both customer and in-house, in safety principles, according to the relevant legislation
This role will require extensive travel (all expenses paid) across the UK and overseas, with many overnight stays away from home, therefore a current valid driving license and reliable car is essential, and a current valid passport is desirable. It is imagined per week you will spend four days on the customer’s sites and one day managing the projects and technical report writing. There is a well-established administration team to assist on procedural matters and a team to offer technical expertise and peer review.

The Person:
The successful Machinery Consultant will be a straight talker, pragmatic with great communications skills. You will have achieved qualifications in an engineering discipline and aspire to gain chartered status (CMIOSH, IEng / Eur Eng) in an engineering environment. You will be an electrically biased engineer with some understanding of the Machinery Directive and ideally PUWER within the process / manufacturing sector with a desire to gain knowledge of applicable Standards, Regulations, legislation and Industry codes of practice. You will be motivated to join a consultancy team and be ambitious to work in a variety of manufacturing environments to utilise your skills.
Your technical reporting and writing skills should be highly proficient and you will have strong ability to understand and empathise with clients. You will be mentored by a Principle Consultant to develop your commercial and engineering skills.
