This client is one of the world’s largest independent provider of medical equipment and are now seeking a Senior Biomedical Engineer for their Peterborough Client.

You will be reporting to the Clinical Equipment Manager and your responsibilities will include:
• To provide prompt, high quality and professional engineering support to a broad range of medical equipment. Including Acceptance Testing, Repairs and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
• Key skills required include repairing and maintaining medical equipment, an in depth understanding of patient safety and the ability to work accurately and safely under pressure
• Assist Clinical Equipment Manager with work allocation and supervision

Therefore, your key accountabilities will be:
• To ensure equipment is maintained correctly, ensuring patient safety
• To ensure equipment is repaired correctly, on time, first time
• Carry out repairs and planned preventative maintenance on equipment as required, in accordance with local policies and OEM recommendations
• Carry out Acceptance Testing of new equipment and loan equipment
• Safety test equipment
• Condemn and de-commission equipment
• Allocation and prioritisation of reactive and planned maintenance to other engineers
• Provide technical supervision of other engineer’s work, ensuring quality and patient safety
• Assist with the development and implementation of service checklists, procedures and policies
• Prioritise multiple demands, as required
• Ensure contractual Key Performance Indicators are met
• Liaise with and assist OEMs
• Keep full and accurate records of all work carried out, in accordance with company procedures
• Maintain essential stock records
• Develop service checklists and work instructions
• Responsible for informing of any health and safety concerns you identify and for completing an adverse event form for any accidents, incidents or near-misses that happen to you or that you are aware of to reduce injuries or loss
• Confidentiality of all matters that may be learnt in the course of employment, meeting the requirements under the Data Protection Act
• Any other relevant duty that assists in the smooth operation of the Medical Electronics Department
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the field of medical device technology
• Attend appropriate user, technical and other training courses, meetings and/or conferences
• Seek to gain knowledge/experience in related Biomedical Engineering fields to expand company opportunities and for personal development
• Provide support to clinical users in operation and set up of equipment as required
• Participate in the training of Clinical staff as necessary and demonstrate the correct, safe and accurate use of medical equipment
• Participate in the operation of the computerised inventory and work recording system
• Delivery and collection of medical equipment to clinical areas.
• Equipment decontamination in accordance with Trust Infection Control Policy
• Assist in monitoring the quality of the service provided
• Assist in the training and induction of new staff

Performance indicators
• Completion of all technical work to the highest standards of workmanship, quality and safety
• Repair of faults and resolution of technical problems within timescales required
• All work will be routinely audited, including technical work, as part of a Quality System
• Ability to work with NHS, OEM and company staff
• Completion of maintenance to plan
• Timeliness and accuracy of reporting data into OPTIM
• Achievement of agreed personal and team objectives
• External & Internal feedback
• Accurate and timely communication with the Clinical Equipment Manager

To be eligible for this role, you will need the following:
• HNC/D Electronics or equivalent
• Customer, Safety and quality focus
• Interpersonal and presentable
• Good oral and written communication
• Attention to detail and ability to drill down to important issues
• Advanced electronic skills including test & measurement
• Broad range of basic engineering and Mechanical workshop skills
• Able to fault find under pressure, with minimal supervision, whilst minimising risk to patients, the Trust or company
• Computer skills, Microsoft Office and Equipment Database
• An understanding of Risk Management generally, and the impact on medical device support
• Helpful, positive attitude to clinical users and ability to understand their concerns
• Fundamental management skills, concise communication, and the ability to liaise effectively with scientific and medical colleagues
• A keen interest in efficiency and innovative techniques to develop more effective working practices
• Experienced in the repair, calibration and use of general medical equipment
• Experienced in the repair, calibration and use of x-ray and imaging equipment

Also, you will need to pass an DBS Enhanced Disclosure for this role
