Head of Software vacancy in Greater London (086bs)

We are looking for a DV cleared Head of Software for a leading Defence company to lead a team working on a range of specialist projects within communications. This role involves working from the client’s office, based in Greater London. The successful candidate will have significant experience leading high performing software engineering teams within a technical sector and be able to achieve DV security clearance.
You will be providing technical leadership of a Software Engineering team of 25 engineers, within the Communication Systems team. You will be delivering on an exciting range of programmes running concurrently ranging from tens of £k to several £m.

The successful head of software candidate will have:
- Previous experience of line management, resource management and implementing process improvements.
- Significant experience of embedded product development (bare-metal and RTOS) using best practice over the full software development lifecycle.
- Experience of Windows, Python and Linux application and driver development advantageous.
- Advanced knowledge of software engineering practices, methodologies, processes, techniques and technology trends.
- Experience of DOORS, TDD, GoogleTest, Jenkins, CodeSonar, JIRA, UML and SysML would be advantageous.
- Degree in an engineering, mathematical or science-based subject desirable.
- Willing and able to obtain, and maintain, DV security clearance.
