They are looking to employ an IT Specialist (VLE Engineer) to join a growing team working to help strengthen and keep momentum on several refresh and transformation projects throughout the Group.

Our Client one of the leading ICT suppliers, their Services Team are rapidly transforming function covering: Customer Services, Central Technical Support and on-site IT Support teams.
Their vision is to become the point of contact for all business units for the design, delivery, support and management of IT services and solutions for all customers, both internal and external.

Role Description
• This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced IT Specialist with an interest in Moodle and Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs).
• This role will be responsible for the design, development, build, delivery and support of all VLE environments.
• As well, provision of second-line end-user support via the helpdesk and production of supporting documentation and technical overviews, you will be working as part of an onsite Services team delivering quality support for a prestigious MoD contract, with a key focus on delivering to the customer within the agreed SLAs.
• You will also liaise with colleagues and MoD staff to ensure compliance with security policies and IT Services, technical working procedures and professional standards.

Qualifications
Essential
• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
• RedHat Certification
• An excellent working knowledge of Moodle VLE and other associated technologies
• Competent in Linux, Apache, MYSQL and PHP-LAMP architecture, design build and deployment

Desirable
• ITIL v4 Foundation
• MOODLE VLE training
• CompTIA A+
• Minimum of three years previous experience in Moodle VLE Technical and Administrative functions
• Keep up to date with new technologies and keep skills current.
• Working knowledge of Git and the ability to identify the right branching strategies to meet the platform needs.
• Confident in consulting with and presenting to clients and internal teams.
• Good experience and knowledge of Agile and Waterfall delivery processes
• Experience of other LMS platforms


Key responsibilities:
• Design, development, creation and maintenance of Moodle VLEs, using REDHAT Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (LAMP). These tasks will involve the configuration, installation, deployment, upgrades, troubleshooting and major incident resolution.
• Additional activities will comprise Database support, Server performance management, capacity monitoring, LDAP and Server Virtualisation, optimization and security management as well as ensuring all relevant support documentation is maintained.
• You will adhere and contribute to change control processes and project development standards.
• Attendance of VLE meetings to assist in planning, development, policy generation, plugin management and guiding the VLE managers on best practice.
• Oversee the administration and Coordinate the creation of all VLE permissions and account setup including enrolment of participants
• Have a very good understanding of complimentary digital learning technologies and their use in education, such as Mahara, LRS and plagiarism detection software.
