My client is one of the UK’s leading office design company who are seeking to set up a Site Manager Academy scheme for 4 former service personnel who are seeking to make the first step into the construction sector.

They will invest in all of the mandatory H&S training and you will be put through an intensive 6-month mentoring scheme on site, paired up with the best of their current site managers. Their Group Health & Safety Manager will do weekly site visits to monitor progress against a set of KPIs.

You will be assessed at the end of this period against their fixed criteria and KPIs, and those who are successful will be transitioned to run their own smaller sites as a continuation of the training scheme.

The salary will be £36,000 upon joining, rising to £40,000 upon successful completion of the Site Manager Academy.

CANDIDATE PREREQUISITES

- IT literate; able to use email, MS Word and MS Excel
- Some kind of man management / coordination experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Presentable and confident
- Any kind of construction or trade experience
- Project management experience would be looked upon favourably
- Full clean driving license
- Ability to undertake manual work if required

In this role you will be reporting to the Project Manager and you will be responsible for the day to day control, management and delivery of site-based project work. The Site Manager’s responsibilities include monitoring of contractor attendance and progress; provide direct instruction and support as necessary such that contractual arrangements are achieved; maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management; and support the Project Manager in delivering the project in accordance with Company standards.

The Site Manager is a key contributor to enabling the company to:

• Delight their clients by delivering each contract package project snag-free in a timely manner and support the Project Manager to deliver the project snag-free, one week early;
• Ensuring a happy project team through pro-active communication, exceptional day-to-day management of the site and setting a clear example on what good looks like; and,
• Meeting our financial objectives by overseeing the safe delivery of each package in accordance with the allocated budget.

The ideal candidate for these posts would probably be ex Royal Engineer, REME or similar, probably JNCO or SNCO level as you will be responsible for a team of personnel from day one and will need to have strong management and organisational skills from day one.

Individuals who hold the following will have an advantage, however, full training will be given:
• CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme Certificate (SMSTS) or Level 4 NVQ in Site Management
• First Aid at Work Qualified (3 day)
• UKATA Asbestos Awareness Certificate held and carried out within the previous 12 months
• Fire Warden trained
• Able to use Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Project & CINDY (or equivalent system)

In return they are offering a good starting salary at £36k to start, and once you have completed the academy you will see your salary increase to £40k, as well as a full development and training package.
